Dear Concerned American,

I was shaken.

When I tasked my staff with creating this video, I knew it would be compelling, but actually seeing it was a moving experience.

You see, Big Labor often resorts to despicable acts of violence and intimidation to force their way into the workplace, but it’s never been documented like this before, trust me.

And now that it’s released, Big Labor is scrambling to shut down our video exposing the ugly side of union organizing.

Watch it now before Big Labor shuts it down.

Sincerely,

Another Republican Trick Play

On March 13, the House of Representatives passed legislation overturning the Obama Administration’s rule allowing states to “waive” the 1996 welfare reform’s law requirements that welfare recipients either obtain full-time work or participate in job training . Whatever one thinks of the work requirements, or of the wisdom of giving states waivers from the requirements, the 1996 law explicitly stated that the Executive Branch cannot issues waivers for the requirements. So it is another example of Obama overreach. Simple vote for members of Congress, right?

Well, it would seem not… because the leadership snuck into the bill a provision renewing the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program for the rest of the year at a cost of $16.5 billion. The new bill, with the added language reauthorizing TANF, was introduced two days before the vote but was hidden on the rules committee website –the link was put in between two versions of the bill that did not contain the TANF expansion provision.

So the debate on the bill focused on Obama’s changes to the rules, instead of whether it was wise to just renew this welfare program without even considering whether there are reforms that could save taxpayers money.  Also ignored was  whether this unconstitutional program should continue or whether poor people would be better off if the responsibility for charity was returned to local communities, churches, and other private institutions.

Sadly, most Republican members of Congress were bamboozled by the GOP’ leadership’s focus on the work requirement issue that they overlooked questions about the TANF reauthorization. Only three fiscal conservatives voted no: Justin Amash, Thomas Massie, and Jim Bridenstine. These three deserve the gratitude of all Campaign for Liberty members for not being bamboozled by the GOP leadership’s shell games.

ObamaCare Bites Unionized Educators

April 1, 2013

By Eileen F. Toplansky

As the proverbial offal hits the fan, adjunct instructors and their union leaders are understandably panic-stricken as they finally realize the impact of ObamaCare on their livelihoods.

Union representatives are now sending their members letters stating that “the Affordable Care Act [aka ObamaCare] has defined full time as anyone working over 30 hours a week or 130 hours a month.” Many of these hardworking and well-meaning local labor representatives, who were duped — I mean, told by the American Federation of Teachers Union (AFT) that Obama was the one who would bring all good things to pass — now find themselves in an untenable position.

Many claim that this ObamaCare provision actually “leaves it up to the employers in education to define what the actual time worked by an adjunct actually is.” And from the local rep’s standpoint, it is clearly “atrocious” that administrators would try to abide by the law even though it adversely affects instructors.

The traditional adversarial stance between administration and faculty is being ratcheted up by the union, which claims that the “the college is using the ACA law to reduce instructors’ teaching load.” They maintain that college administration‘s “interpretation is not accurate and that the regulations call for each school to come up with a reasonable method of determining full time status for compliance.”

Thus, “anyone teaching more than 9 credits this semester will have the Fall teaching load reduced by the number of credits over the 9 credits. For example, if someone is currently teaching 12 credits, she will only be allowed to teach 6 credits in the Fall. A 14-credit load will be decreased to four [because there are no five credit courses]. Moreover, anyone in other college-related work such as Continuing Education courses, teaching seniors in Life Center courses, working in the fitness center, and advising students will no longer be allowed to do these.

Clearly, the hardships for instructors will be many. Poverty level will be the norm for many of these educators. They will be scrambling for other teaching assignments at nearby colleges and universities just to stay afloat.

And Obama will be chuckling all the way.

Because ObamaCare was never meant to be affordable or to improve patient care. It is about his amassing total control over people’s lives. And far too many labor unions acquiesced to the Pied Piper’s flute. Now their members are paying a very high price for this shameful partnership of lies.

Yet, instead of taking this opportunity to bring forces together, the union will continue to place blame at the feet of college administrators. I hold no brief for administration. Some of their past actions should make a decent person hold his head in shame. But in this instance, there is a golden opportunity to fight back against the government’s intrusion into our lives if only people would see past their immediate concerns.

For example, the federal government has a wide array of alphabet-soup agency programs to ensure that students go to college. Special support programs such as Passport “provide students who demonstrate the determination and ability to succeed with the opportunity to begin college although they may not fully meet traditional admission criteria to do so.” Exceptional Educational Opportunities Program or EEO “provides intensive support services — including academic skill development; academic advisement; personal, social, and career counseling; and financial assistance — for those who qualify.” The EPIC or Entry Program into College is another program as is Project Excel. They all bring educationally-challenged students into two and four-year colleges in the hopes that they will succeed.

Not surprisingly, the funding for these programs is drying up. This leaves the colleges without a new class of students; it decreases teaching loads, and it puts a college’s finances in a precarious state.

The educational house of cards will eventually crumble. But if administration and union members put aside their differences and march en masse on the White House to demand that ObamaCare be overturned, this would open a spigot that would bring out other Americans who see their medical care and work opportunities shortchanged and adversely affected.

And now with the latest news from Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat from Oregon, that “many of the children of families a.k.a. dependents “would still be left without options for affordable family health insurance under Obamacare” this should raise the hackles of even diehard Obama supporters. In essence, this Democratic senator says that millions of workers’ dependents will still be left without options for affordable family health coverage. In fact, the “Kaiser Family Foundation has estimated that there could be as many as 3.9 million dependents that will be affected because an employer’s individual coverage choice was considered affordable but the family plan is not.”

A million-people march on the Mall in D.C. would let Obama and the Congress know that Americans are fed up with these dictatorial edicts. It is time to push back.

Instead of rhetorical squabbling that will inevitably ensue at college adjunct/management forums, these two groups must come together. In this instance, their mutual interest is actually one and the same.

It is “the biggest fight” of the nation and the unions that surrendered their members’ rights should be informed that they no longer have their backing or their faith. Obama and Congress should be placed on continual notice that the people no longer trust them and discontent is afoot.

This might be education’s big moment if the interested parties seize the day instead of squandering the opportunity.

Republicans Need To Grow Up About Taxes

Reblogged from Townhall.com

Republicans are flailing about these days, trying to rebrand themselves before the next election cycle. A certain amount of introspection and internecine debate is inevitable after suffering a stinging loss against an opponent with a dismal record. One thing the GOP needs to do to gain greater acceptance among voters is to improve their credibility by outgrowing a tiresome, unthinking opposition to any and all tax increases.

This is anything but a recommendation that Republicans “go moderate” and tack for the political center. Being to the right of 99.9 percent of Republicans on taxation, I agree that Americans are overtaxed and for decades have favored zero capital gains tax; advocated zero taxes on corporate profits; and called for a low, flat, income tax.

What bugs me now, and what should concern Republicans who worry about their image, are the recent objections raised by some Republican legislators in Michigan and Maryland to their respective governors’ proposals for higher gasoline taxes to pay for road and bridge repairs. In a fairly typical comment, Maryland state delegate Susan Krebs complained that motorists would bear the cost of the tax hike.

But why shouldn’t motorists—the users of roads—be the ones to pay for the repair and upkeep of those roads? For Republicans to take the position that someone other than motorists should subsidize road maintenance is to adopt the ethos of progressives—that people should consume the economic goods they want and then stick somebody else with the tab.

There is a different, honest, and straightforward approach that Republicans can take if they believe that motorists should not have to pay as much as their governors propose for road maintenance: They could privatize the roads and let the new owners worry about how to cover the considerable costs of providing such a valuable product to drivers.

Republicans did similar damage to their reputation with their reflexively anti-tax ideology in 2010 by assenting to Obama’s 2 percent FICA (Social Security) payroll tax reduction. The GOP may talk a lot about “saving Social Security” for future generations, but they made hypocrites of themselves by voting to reduce Social Security revenues at the very time when current revenues no longer matched payouts, and they themselves were warning about the dangers of Social Security’s long-term underfunding.

As with road repair, if Republicans believe that government should be involved in its citizens’ retirement, they should authorize the collection of sufficient revenue to pay for the commitments they legislate. Alternatively, if they rebel at covering the expenses of a particular program, they should privatize it. In the case of Social Security, privatization would not be the sham privatization proposed by George W. Bush—i.e., diverting part of Social Security withholdings into government-approved private investments. A genuine privatization would deposit payroll deductions directly into an account in the employee’s name where the federal government can’t control or spend it.

In both the recent opposition to raising taxes to pay for upcoming road repairs and in the two years of Social Security tax cuts, Republicans have made a mockery of their professed concern about fiscal responsibility and government deficits. Reducing the revenues for specific spending projects and programs without reducing the corresponding spending is a formula for increasing deficits. Too often, Republicans pick the low-hanging political fruit of tax reductions without doing the hard—and more important—work of reducing government spending. The result is that Republicans end up weakening their brand.

Democrats have an advantage. They know who they are. They are single-minded in their relentless, unapologetic desire to maximize government spending. They don’t give a hoot about deficits. They know that the more they spend, the more power and control they have. As repugnant as this mindset is to those of us who value liberty, this unwavering commitment to the ever-increasing bestowal of federal largess motivates a large number of voters to go to the polls and vote Democratic.

Republicans, by contrast, project ambivalence and insincerity. They claim to be more fiscally responsible, but show a willingness to support underfunded expenditures. They claim to believe in limited government, and then do their best to make the Democrats’ welfare/transfer state work, rather than proposing to dismantle it. The result is cognitive dissonance. How can voters be sure about what Republicans really believe, other than the importance of winning elections?

My recommendation to Republicans: Work harder to differentiate yourself from progressives and Democrats by forging a clear, unambiguous brand as the party of smaller government. If you remain the party of Big Government Lite, work less at reducing too-high government spending than at reducing too-high taxes, and are unwilling to devolve government programs to the private sector—in other words, if you persist in business as usual—you will deserve the electoral defeats you will bring upon yourselves

Biden Implies “Garden Variety Slap Across the Face” of a Woman is No Big Deal

March 19, 2013

By Katie Pavlich

3/13/2013

You’d think someone in the Democratic public relations complex would have sent out a memo asking Democrats to stop spouting off about rape, guns and domestic violence by now but, it clearly hasn’t happened. Speaking today at a “1 is 2 many” domestic violence awareness event sponsored by the White House, Vice President Joe Biden implied certain types of domestic violence aren’t really that bad because they’re just a “garden variety slap across the face.”

So, what exactly is 1 is 2 many? It’s a White House initiative to bring awareness to domestic violence. I didn’t see a definition for “garden variety slap across the face” anywhere.

Despite the significant progress made in reducing violence against women, there is still a long way to go. Young women still face the highest rates of dating violence and sexual assault. In the last year, one in 10 teens have reported being physically hurt on purpose by a boyfriend or girlfriend. One in five young women have been sexually assaulted while they’re in college.

In response to these alarming statistics, Vice President Biden is focusing his longstanding commitment to reducing violence against women specifically on teens and young women ages 16-24. By targeting the importance of changing attitudes that lead to violence and educating the public on the realities of abuse, the Vice President is leading the way in an effort to stop violence against women before it begins.

One hit is too many, unless of course it’s just a “garden variety slap across the face.”

Update: This article was written based on NRO’s edited clip of Joe Biden’s remarks on domestic violence. As is reflected in the full quote below, Biden condemns all violence. However, using the phrase “garden variety slap” to describe certain types of domestic violence was insensitive and trivial.

We’ve learned that certain behaviors on the part of an abuser portend much more danger than other behaviors. For example, if an abuser has attempted to strangle his victim, if he has threatened to shoot her, if he has sexually assaulted her, and there’s a number of other signs, about eight others. These are tell-tale signs to say this isn’t your garden-variety slap across the face, which is totally unacceptable in and of itself.

Just Happened To:

By Don Fredrick
September 30, 2012

Obama just happened to know 60s far-left radical revolutionary William Ayers, whose father just happened to be Thomas Ayers, who just happened to be a close friend of Obama’s communist mentor Frank Marshall Davis, who just happened to work at the communist-sympathizing Chicago Defender with Vernon Jarrett, who just happened to later become the father-in-law of Iranian-born leftist Valerie Jarrett, who Obama just happened to choose as his closest White House advisor, and who just happened to have been CEO of Habitat Company, which just happened to manage public housing in Chicago, which just happened to get millions of dollars from the Illinois state legislature, and which just happened not to properly maintain the housing—which eventually just happened to require demolition.

P.S. If Obama just happens to win reelection on November 6, remember that hyperinflation just happens to be the inescapable consequence of printing trillions of dollars to cover massive government deficits.

Those Who Cast The Votes Decide Nothing

By David O.

“Those who cast the votes decide nothing.  Those who count the votes decide everything.”

Joseph Stalin

I’ve been saying it for the better part of a year.  His majesty, king Obama will not, he cannot allow himself to be defeated!  If he cannot get us into a declared war (in which case he stays in…watch closely what’s going on in the Middle-East), he will so corrupt the election process using fraud, and just down-right stealing of this election, that his re-election will be assured.

Now, there’s this…

http://yourdaddy.net/2012/04/08/how-barack-obama-will-steal-the-2012-presidential-election-vetobama/

(which slipped by me at first, but was brought to my attention today by my son)

So now, a Spanish company, with no US citizens on it’s board, and zero accountability to US voters will count some of our votes in in 4 states (plus DC) in November.  This will include votes cast by our military based overseas.  Spain BTW is mostly controlled by a liberal, socialist government.  The country is in financial crisis, and is begging for bail-outs.  Obama has been going to bat for them, putting pressure on lenders.  Do you see a connection?  Do you really think their count will be unbiased?  Do you wonder who really owns this company?  (we will probably never know)  The current CEO of this Spanish company was previously the VP and CFO for a telecom company based in…Chicago! (imagine that)

h/t yourdaddy.net

Pile that on top of the George Soros “SOS Project”, where he (and others) piled millions into getting liberal Democrats elected to Secretary of State positions in many states.  Why?…because the Secretary of State determines how votes are counted in all states, and in a close election, they decide who is the winner.  Don’t be fooled, this project is not dead…just in hiding.

Both sides have thousands of lawyers lined-up to challenge the election results in November.  With good reason! This will likely be the most corrupt election in US history.  Watch closely!

Now, read that quote from Joseph Stalin again!

O’s Got To Go

Obama – In His Own Words

In 8 years, President Bush added $4 Trillion to the debt.  Candidate Obama, in 2008, called that “Irresponsible” and “Unpatriotic”.

So, what does President Obama call it when he himself added $5 Trillion to the debt in only 4 years?

On Scott Walker

A Letter to ‘Speak Out’ by John McMillen:

The conservative victory by Scott Walker in Wisconsin marks the third time Barack Obama’s vision of Big Labor/Big Government philosophy has been defeated at the polls since Obama’s inauguration. But the liberal media keep spinning (lying) about this overwhelming rejection of Kenyan er, excuse me, Keynesian economics.  If ever there was a referendum on public sector unions and the President’s idea of how government should work, it was again this Wisconsin election.

h/t AdriennesCatholicCorner.blogspot.com

Every far left democrat trick in the book was played; breaking into the capitol building, destroying tax payer property; the constant media drum beat that the democrats were the champions of democracy, and they were going to run that evil Walker and his administration out of town on a rail; even their typical delayed stacked questionable voting in the closing hour of the polls.  The wide margin gap did narrow considerably (thanks to this “get out the late mass run voting in the closing hours” tactic, from the 20 per cent blowout that held up till about 80% of the votes being counted.  They narrowed the margin to 7%.

So how’s all that racist, union thug, media corruption working out for you democrats?

The working people of this country are sick and tired of the lying media propping up fraudulent democrats bilking the tax payer for over the top spending in order to buy democrat voting blocs.  Public union employee’s salaries and benefits are paid by the taxpayer. These public unions dwarf the compensation package of the typical working tax payer in the private sector.

Up until it was obvious Walker had won, the liberal media were crowing about this being a foretelling of the outcome in the November elections.  They immediately stopped that line, and twisted it to say it would have no impact on the November elections and they started spinning how much alike Obama and Walker are in turning the economy around.

Correction liberals, Walker turned a huge deficit into a balanced budget and now a little bit of a surplus, thanks to private sector job growth.  That’s the message that the media will continue to ignore.

Obama took a deficit handed him by the 2006 democrat congress which controlled the purse strings and the National political agenda for the last 2 Bush years, and the first 2 Obama years.  Obama has added another 5 trillion dollars and exploded the national deficit and debt.

Obama is no Scott Walker. Obama is no fiscal conservative. Obama is no president. Obama is a political hack.

But, the media will keep lying and propagandizing trying to get Obama reelected.

God willing enough voters will have had enough of this corrupt charade to overcome the Obama media and union thug corrupted election process in November.

Dear Lord, let it be so.
